About Family Enrichment Center (FEC)

The Family Enrichment Center (FEC) in Grimes, IA, is dedicated to empowering families at risk of long-term welfare dependency and instability by fostering pathways to self-sufficiency and economic independence. Our mission is to support families through comprehensive services including family support, education, training, and employment opportunities. As the local grantee for Iowa’s Family Development and Self-Sufficiency (FaDSS) program, we provide essential assistance for Family Investment Program (FIP) recipients who engage with PROMISE JOBS. Our experienced case managers work closely with families, offering personalized support to promote emotional and economic self-sufficiency through regular home visits and a strength-based approach. Families in our program receive help in various areas including housing, transportation, childcare, and job training, along with access to on-site resources such as a clothing closet and food pantry. We invite Polk County residents who are part of the FIP and PROMISE JOBS to join us in working toward a stable and fulfilling life for themselves and their children.
