About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Harlan, IA, is dedicated to cultivating the next generation of advocates and educators for a just and sustainable food system. Through a comprehensive training program, we empower fellows with extensive knowledge about organic agriculture, community engagement, and food access. Our fellowship offers a unique opportunity for hands-on learning and practical application in diverse areas, such as market-style farming, community gardens, and educational outreach in both schools and local markets. Committed to accessibility, we provide this program without tuition fees, inviting a broad and diverse group to join us in promoting food literacy and healthier communities. Selected fellows will immerse themselves for six months in experiential learning at our campus before applying their skills during a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profits to drive real change. For those interested, applications are accepted until March each year, with the program running from May to October.
