About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Iowa City, IA, is dedicated to training and empowering passionate individuals to advocate for a food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic justice. By providing a tuition-free learning opportunity, we ensure that our Fellowship is accessible to all who want to make a difference. Our program equips Fellows with hands-on education in organic food systems, allowing them to grow and distribute diverse crops, implement innovative health education in communities, and enhance school and community gardens. Participants are encouraged to integrate food and ecological literacy into educational activities, support local farmers markets, and establish direct-to-consumer distribution channels that enhance access to healthy foods. After six months of immersive training at our Allegheny Farm Campus, selected Fellows engage in a Community Action Year where they partner with local non-profits to put their skills into action. Applications for this impactful journey should be submitted by March for the upcoming May to October fellowship period.
