About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Maquoketa, IA is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of leaders in food advocacy and sustainable agriculture. Our program trains and empowers Fellows to champion a food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic equity. With a focus on hands-on learning, selected Fellows engage in a six-month immersive experience at our Allegheny Farm Campus, where they participate in organic food system education and collaborate with local non-profit organizations during a Community Action Year. Our initiatives include growing and distributing diverse crops, implementing health education sessions, maintaining community gardens, and enhancing food literacy in schools. By promoting accessibility through our no-tuition policy, we strive to foster a vibrant community that values healthy food access and supports local food systems. Applications are accepted by March each year, with experiences running from May to October, giving aspiring advocates the skills and networks needed to drive meaningful food-related change.
