About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Marion, IA, is dedicated to sponsoring and training passionate individuals to become advocates for a just and sustainable food system. Our program offers a unique six-month immersive experience at the Allegheny Farm in Virginia, where Fellows gain valuable organic food system education and hands-on training. We prioritize accessibility by eliminating tuition fees, empowering a diverse group of individuals to engage in community projects. Participants will have the opportunity to grow and distribute diversified crops, teach food and ecological literacy in schools, support farmers markets, and develop distribution channels to enhance access to healthy foods. The Fellowship culminates in a Community Action Year, allowing Fellows to partner with regional non-profit organizations to implement their training, mentor future participants, and promote community food initiatives. Applications are welcomed until March of the application year, with sessions running from May to October, creating a nurturing environment for aspiring change-makers who are committed to transforming our food systems.
