About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Monticello, IA, empowers passionate individuals to become advocates for a just and sustainable food system. Through comprehensive training and hands-on experience, selected Fellows immerse themselves in the principles of organic farming, food distribution, and ecological stewardship. Our program is dedicated to creating accessibility, as we do not charge tuition for participation. Fellows engage in vital projects such as growing and distributing diverse crops, facilitating innovative health education, and enhancing food literacy in schools and communities. They also play an essential role in supporting farmers markets and expanding access to healthy foods through community initiatives. This transformative experience lasts six months at our Allegheny Farm Campus, followed by a Community Action Year, where Fellows apply their knowledge in partnership with local non-profits. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the fellowship running from May to October.
