About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Muscatine, IA, is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of leaders who champion a food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic justice. This transformative program offers immersive training without tuition barriers, allowing fellows to engage deeply in organic food system education while contributing to impactful community initiatives. Through hands-on experiences, fellows cultivate diversified crops on a market-style farm, implement innovative health education sessions, maintain community and school gardens, and promote food literacy in educational environments. The fellowship also empowers participants to support farmers markets and direct-to-consumer food programs, enhancing access to nutritious options. Following six months of experiential learning at the Allegheny Farm Campus, fellows embark on a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profits to apply their knowledge and skills strategically. Applications are open until March for experiences occurring from May to October, inviting aspiring changemakers to join our mission of building a just and sustainable food system.
