Heart of Iowa Regional Transit Agency (HIRTA) Helps RSVP is dedicated to enhancing the lives of older adults, individuals with disabilities, low-income residents, and veterans across Central Iowa, particularly in Nevada, IA, and surrounding counties. Through the AmeriCorps Seniors program, we offer essential services such as non-emergency medical transportation, food assistance, and companionship to foster community connection. By completing an intake assessment, we tailor services to meet the specific needs of each individual, facilitating access to food pantries, grocery stores, and meal preparation support. Our companionship services range from friendly in-home visits to helping individuals engage in community events. While donations are always appreciated, there is no fee to access our services. We are also actively seeking volunteers aged 55 and older, providing an opportunity to contribute and connect with the community. The first 10 volunteers to join us will receive a $25 gift card upon completing their first assignment. We are here to ensure that every senior can find meaningful volunteer opportunities or receive the support they need, including translation services as requested.
