About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, located in Newton, IA, is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of advocates and educators in sustainable agriculture and food systems. Our program empowers selected Fellows through a comprehensive, hands-on experience in organic food system education that emphasizes social, environmental, and economic justice. We believe in making our Fellowship accessible, which is why we do not charge tuition. Over a transformative six-month residency at our Allegheny Farm Campus, Fellows engage in vital initiatives such as cultivating diversified crops, maintaining community gardens, and promoting food literacy in schools. Additionally, they support farmers markets and enhance access to healthy foods through innovative distribution channels. Following this immersive experience, our Fellows embark on a Community Action Year, applying their skills alongside regional non-profits to foster impactful food assistance initiatives and strengthen local food networks. Applications for the Fellowship are open until March, with the experiential program running from May to October.
