About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Oelwein, IA is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of advocates for a just, sustainable food system. By providing a tuition-free program, we ensure that our Fellowship is accessible to all aspiring leaders who wish to learn about organic food systems and their impact on community health and ecology. Over a span of six months, selected Fellows engage in hands-on experiences at our Allegheny Farm Campus, where they learn to grow and distribute diverse crops, develop community gardens, and implement innovative educational programs focused on food and ecological literacy. Following this immersive training, our Fellows participate in a Community Action Year, collaborating with local non-profit organizations to apply their skills in real-world settings. Our mission is to empower individuals to advocate for social, environmental, and economic justice within the food system while fostering a network of community support and action in Oelwein and beyond.
