About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Oskaloosa, IA, is dedicated to cultivating a new generation of advocates for a fair and sustainable food system. Our program prioritizes accessibility, offering a transformative educational experience without tuition fees. Selected Fellows immerse themselves for six months in hands-on, experiential learning at our partner farm, where they gain valuable knowledge in organic agriculture and community engagement. Throughout their journey, participants engage in diverse initiatives such as growing and distributing crops, managing community gardens, and integrating food literacy into educational programs. Upon completing their Fellowship, participants enter a Community Action Year, applying their skills with local non-profit organizations to enhance food access, support farmers' markets, and promote healthy eating within the community. The Fellowship aims to empower individuals to effect positive change in the food landscape, ensuring that everyone has access to healthy, local food options.
