About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Ottumwa, IA, is dedicated to fostering a new generation of advocates and educators focused on building a socially, environmentally, and economically just food system. Through our program, we offer comprehensive organic food system education, ensuring accessibility by not charging tuition. Our Fellows engage in hands-on experiences at our campus, learning to grow and distribute diversified crops, maintain community gardens, and implement innovative health care educational sessions. They actively support farmers markets and develop distribution channels that enhance access to healthy foods while integrating food and ecological literacy into various educational settings. After six months of immersive training, Fellows embark on a Community Action Year, applying their skills in collaboration with local non-profit organizations to drive meaningful change. Interested individuals are encouraged to apply by March each year, with the program running from May to October.
