About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Pella, IA, is dedicated to fostering a just and sustainable food system through hands-on education and community engagement. This transformative program sponsors and empowers emerging leaders—Fellows—who are passionate about becoming advocates for social, environmental, and economic justice in food systems. Our Fellows benefit from six months of comprehensive, experiential learning at the Allegheny Farm, free of charge, to ensure accessibility for all. They gain valuable skills in organic food production, implement community gardens, conduct educational sessions on innovative healthcare, and support local farmers markets. After their initial training, Fellows enter a Community Action Year where they apply their knowledge and skills in partnership with regional non-profit organizations, working collaboratively to enhance food access and ecological literacy throughout the community. Apply by March to join this impactful fellowship, which runs from May to October.
