The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Pleasant Hill, IA, is dedicated to training and empowering individuals to advocate for a food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic justice. By providing comprehensive organic food system education, the Fellowship enables participants to engage in hands-on learning and community initiatives. Fellows have the opportunity to grow and distribute diverse crops on a market-style farm, conduct innovative health care educational sessions, maintain school and community gardens, and incorporate food and ecological literacy into educational programs. The fellowship experience includes six months of immersive, experiential learning at AMI’s Allegheny Farm Campus, followed by a Community Action Year where Fellows collaborate with regional non-profit organizations to enhance food accessibility and support local food initiatives. With a commitment to accessibility, this program does not charge tuition, making it open to everyone passionate about transforming our food systems. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the program running from May to October.
