The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Sheldon, IA, is dedicated to sponsoring, training, and empowering passionate individuals to become advocates for a food system that values social, environmental, and economic justice. Our program provides comprehensive education in organic food systems and encourages practical experience through community partnerships. Fellows will engage in activities such as growing and distributing diverse crops on a market-style farm, conducting innovative health education sessions, maintaining community gardens, and promoting food and ecological literacy in schools. By supporting local farmers markets and establishing pathways for increased access to healthy foods, our initiative strives to foster sustainable practices and strengthen community engagement. Selected Fellows participate in a six-month immersive training at our campus, followed by a Community Action Year where they apply their skills with regional non-profits. Applications are accepted until March each year for experiences running from May to October.
