About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Sioux Center, IA, is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of advocates for a socially, environmentally, and economically just food system. This empowering program offers comprehensive training without tuition fees to ensure accessibility for all. Selected Fellows engage in six months at the Allegheny Farm, gaining hands-on experience in organic food systems, community gardening, and health education. They work alongside regional non-profit organizations to implement innovative practices such as growing diverse crops on a market-style farm, facilitating educational sessions, and supporting farmers markets. The Fellowship aims to develop food literacy and promote healthy food access, while also encouraging community involvement through mentorship and coalition-building, creating a sustainable impact in their communities. Applications are accepted until March for experiences running from May to October each year.
