The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Waukee, IA, is dedicated to nurturing passionate individuals to become informed advocates for a just and equitable food system. Our program offers a comprehensive, hands-on education in organic food systems, focusing on social, environmental, and economic justice. Fellows engage in diverse activities that include growing and distributing crops at market-style farms, leading educational health sessions, maintaining community gardens, and enhancing food literacy in schools. Through this fellowship, participants will support farmers markets, develop direct-to-consumer distribution channels, and collaborate with local non-profits to create sustainable food initiatives. The fellowship experience spans six months of immersive training at our campus, followed by a Community Action Year to implement their skills. We believe in promoting accessibility by offering this program tuition-free, allowing all individuals to join us in making a substantial impact on community food systems. Applications are accepted until March, with the fellowship running from May to October.
