About Family Enrichment Center (FEC)
The Family Enrichment Center (FEC) in West Des Moines, IA, is dedicated to empowering families at risk of long-term welfare dependency through essential support services and education designed for self-sufficiency. Our mission is to help families achieve stability and economic independence by offering a wide range of services, including job training, career counseling, and life skills education. As the Polk County grantee for the Family Development and Self-Sufficiency (FaDSS) program, we provide a compassionate, strength-based approach to case management, ensuring that families receive the guidance and resources they need to thrive. Our programs also integrate with Iowa's Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) through the Family Investment Program (FIP), providing cash assistance and access to additional support. Families enrolled in FIP and participating in the PROMISE JOBS program can benefit from regular home visits and personalized goal setting. Our on-site resources include a food pantry, clothing closet, and various support services that enhance the quality of life for families. To join our community of support, families need to be Polk County residents, recipients of FIP, and engaged in the PROMISE JOBS program.
