The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Lapwai, ID, cultivates a new generation of leaders dedicated to advancing socially, environmentally, and economically just food systems. This transformative program, offered by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, empowers selected Fellows with organic food system education and hands-on training within a supportive community. Through a six-month immersive experience at our Allegheny Farm Campus, participants learn to grow and distribute diverse crops while engaging in innovative health education and maintaining school or community gardens. Fellows also gain valuable experience in promoting food literacy and supporting farmers markets, ensuring increased access to healthy foods in their communities. Following this intensive training, Fellows enter a Community Action Year where they apply their skills in partnership with regional nonprofit organizations. The Fellowship is committed to accessibility, offering tuition-free education to further support the passion for food assistance and community empowerment. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the program typically running from May to October.
