The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Oldtown, ID, nurtures the next generation of advocates for a food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic justice. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this unique program offers a no-cost educational experience centered around organic food systems. Selected Fellows engage in a six-month immersive residency at the Allegheny Farm Campus, followed by a Community Action Year where they partner with local non-profits to implement their training. Through hands-on experiences, Fellows grow and distribute diverse crops, run educational sessions on health, maintain community gardens, and promote food and ecological literacy in schools. Additionally, they support local farmers' markets and develop channels to ensure greater access to healthy foods. By fostering mentorship and collaboration within the community, we strive to empower individuals and promote sustainable practices across our food systems.
