About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

Located in Alexandria, KY, the Farm & Food Systems Fellowship offers a transformative opportunity for individuals passionate about creating a just food system. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this fellowship empowers participants to become educators and advocates for sustainable practices. Throughout the program, Fellows gain hands-on experience with organic food systems, learn to grow and distribute diverse crops on market-style farms, and engage in initiatives such as maintaining community gardens and supporting farmers markets. The Fellowship promotes accessibility by not charging tuition, allowing a wider range of participants to join. Selected individuals will spend six months immersing themselves in experiential learning at AMI's Allegheny Farm Campus, followed by a year applying their knowledge with regional non-profits. By integrating food and ecological literacy into educational programs and community activities, the fellowship cultivates the next generation of leaders in the movement for equitable access to healthy foods. Applications are due by March each year, with the program running from May to October.
