About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship based in Ashland, KY, inspires and empowers individuals to become advocates for a food system rooted in social, environmental, and economic justice. This transformative program, offered by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, ensures accessibility by waiving tuition fees for its Farm and Food Study. Throughout a six-month hands-on training at the beautiful Allegheny Farm Campus, Fellows engage deeply with organic food system education, gaining essential skills to grow and distribute diverse crops, maintain community and school gardens, and promote food and ecological literacy in educational settings. In collaboration with regional non-profits, they also play a critical role in supporting farmers markets, developing distribution channels for healthy food access, and leading community food initiatives. This fellowship is more than an educational journey; it’s a chance to be part of a movement dedicated to creating healthier food systems. Applications are welcome until March each year, with the fellowship experience running from May to October.
