Karen's Place Maternity Center provides specialized addiction treatment exclusively for pregnant and postpartum women on the campus of King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky. This CARF-accredited facility integrates clinical care with a Christian-centered approach, allowing mothers to live with their babies while receiving comprehensive treatment for substance use disorders. Under the direction of an addictionologist, clients progress through a structured four-phase program beginning with medical detoxification and personalized treatment planning. The residential program employs a holistic philosophy addressing mind, body, and spirit, with 24/7 support from addiction specialists. Treatment includes evidence-based individual and group counseling, medication-assisted therapy when appropriate, and participation in recovery meetings including AA, NA, and Celebrate Recovery. As clients advance through the program, they gain access to practical skill development including vocational training, neonatal care education, and employment preparation. The center also provides educational opportunities through Sullivan University, where clients can earn a Health and Human Services certificate that can be applied toward associate or bachelor's degree programs. Following residential treatment, clients can transition to intensive outpatient care with sober living accommodations for continued support with increased independence.
