About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Barbourville, KY, is dedicated to cultivating the next generation of advocates for a just food system. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this Fellowship equips participants with essential knowledge and hands-on experience in organic food systems, empowering them to promote social, environmental, and economic justice in their communities. With no tuition fees, we prioritize accessibility, fostering a diverse group of Fellows dedicated to creating impactful change. Over six months, Fellows engage in immersive learning at our Allegheny Farm Campus, where they grow and distribute diverse crops, maintain community gardens, and develop educational programs in food and ecological literacy. Following this intensive training, they embark on a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profits to ensure increased access to healthy foods, support farmers markets, and mentor future cohorts. Applications are open until March each year, with the Fellowship running from May to October.
