About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Bowling Green, KY, is dedicated to nurturing a new generation of advocates for a just and sustainable food system. Through hands-on training and education at the Allegheny Farm, selected Fellows immerse themselves in organic farming practices while learning to promote social, environmental, and economic justice. Our program is designed to be accessible, as we do not charge tuition for participation. Over six months, Fellows engage in practical experiences ranging from growing diversified crops on a market-style farm to leading educational initiatives that enhance food literacy in schools and communities. They help support local farmers markets and develop channels that increase access to nutritious foods. After completing their intensive training, Fellows enter a Community Action Year, where they collaborate with regional non-profits to implement their learned skills. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the fellowship running from May to October, empowering individuals to make impactful contributions to the food landscape in Kentucky and beyond.
