About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Brandenburg, KY, is dedicated to cultivating a new generation of advocates and educators who champion a food system that is equitable, sustainable, and thriving. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this fellowship offers an immersive six-month program at Allegheny Farm, where selected Fellows engage in hands-on organic food system education without the burden of tuition, ensuring accessibility for all. Participants work collaboratively with community partners to grow and distribute diversified crops, implement health-centered educational initiatives, maintain community gardens, and foster food and ecological literacy in local schools. Beyond the farm, Fellows embark on a Community Action Year, leveraging their training to support regional non-profits and enhance access to healthy foods through farmers markets and direct-to-consumer initiatives. This fellowship invites passionate individuals to apply by March for an experience that runs from May to October, making a profound impact on the food landscape of their communities.
