The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Catlettsburg, KY, is dedicated to training and empowering the next generation of advocates for a food system that prioritizes social equity, environmental sustainability, and economic viability. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this unique Fellowship offers an immersive, six-month experiential program at the beautiful Allegheny Farm Campus, free of tuition to ensure accessibility for all. During their time, Fellows will gain hands-on education in organic agriculture while promoting diverse crop production, enhancing community food access, and facilitating innovative health education initiatives. They will also support the establishment of school gardens, farmer's markets, and direct-to-consumer food programs, while integrating food and ecological literacy into local curricula. Following their fellowship, participants will engage in a Community Action Year, applying their knowledge through partnerships with regional non-profits. Applications are open until March each year, with the fellowship running from May to October.
