About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

Located in Dry Ridge, KY, the Farm & Food Systems Fellowship empowers dedicated individuals to become advocates for a just food system. Operated by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this fellowship offers a unique opportunity for fellows to engage in hands-on organic food system education without the burden of tuition, ensuring broad accessibility. Over six months, fellows gain practical skills and knowledge at the Allegheny Farm Campus in Highland County, VA, focusing on sustainable practices that promote social, environmental, and economic justice. Participants will work collaboratively to cultivate diversified crops, support local farmers' markets, and enhance food literacy through innovative educational programs in schools and communities. After their training, fellows will participate in a Community Action Year, applying their newfound skills with regional non-profit organizations to make a tangible impact by increasing access to emergency food resources and fostering community connections. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the fellowship experience taking place from May to October.
