About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Hopkinsville, KY, is dedicated to nurturing a new generation of advocates for a just and sustainable food system. Through hands-on training, Fellows engage in organic food system education and are empowered to teach, mentor, and inspire within their communities—allowing them to tackle social, environmental, and economic challenges. During the six-month experiential Farm and Food Study at the Allegheny Farm Campus, participants learn practical skills such as growing and distributing diversified crops, implementing educational programs in healthcare, maintaining community gardens, and promoting food and ecological literacy in schools. After their intensive training, Fellows embark on a Community Action Year, collaborating with local non-profits to enhance access to healthy foods, support farmers markets, and drive community food initiatives. The program is tuition-free to ensure accessibility, and applications are accepted until March each year, with the fellowship experience running from May to October.
