The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Independence, KY, is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of advocates for a just and sustainable food system. Partnering with the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this unique fellowship empowers selected individuals through hands-on training in organic agriculture and community engagement. Fellows immerse themselves in a six-month program at AMI’s picturesque Allegheny Farm, where they harness their knowledge to advance initiatives that promote food justice, enhance ecological awareness, and support local farmers’ markets. With a strong emphasis on practical experience, participants also engage in a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profits to implement innovative food and health programs, develop school gardens, and foster food literacy throughout their communities. Our mission is to cultivate leaders who will champion equitable access to healthy food while fostering environmental sustainability.
