About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Mount Sterling, KY, is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of advocates and educators for a fair and sustainable food system. Our program sponsors and empowers Fellows through comprehensive training at the Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA, focusing on social, environmental, and economic justice within food systems. We ensure accessibility by offering the fellowship at no tuition cost. Over six months of immersive, residential training, participants engage in organic food system education, collaborate on market-style farming projects, implement innovative health care educational sessions, maintain community and school gardens, and promote food and ecological literacy in local schools. After this foundational experience, Fellows embark on a Community Action Year, putting their skills to work in partnership with regional non-profit organizations, supporting initiatives that increase access to healthy foods, bolster farmers markets, and nurture community food coalitions. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the program running from May to October.
