About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, based in Paducah, KY, empowers individuals to become champions of a just and sustainable food system through comprehensive training and hands-on experiences. This transformative program, hosted at the Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA, provides Fellows with organic food system education, allowing them to actively engage in growing and distributing diverse crops on a market-style farm, conducting innovative health care educational sessions, and maintaining school and community gardens. The Fellowship fosters food literacy by integrating it into school activities and supporting farmers markets and direct-to-consumer initiatives, ultimately enhancing access to healthy foods within the community. Selected Fellows undergo six months of immersive, experiential training followed by a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profits to implement their knowledge and skills. With no tuition fees, the Fellowship prioritizes accessibility and invites aspiring advocates to apply by March each year for a program experience running from May to October.
