The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Versailles, KY, empowers individuals to become advocates for a just food system through comprehensive training and hands-on experience. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this program emphasizes social, environmental, and economic equity within food systems, providing organic food system education without tuition fees to ensure accessibility. Fellows engage in meaningful projects that include cultivating and distributing diverse crops on a market-style farm, enhancing community health education, and sustaining school and community gardens. They also promote food and ecological literacy in educational settings, support local farmers markets, and develop innovative distribution channels to improve access to healthy foods. Throughout their six-month residential program at the Allegheny Farm Campus, selected Fellows gain valuable experience before entering a Community Action Year, where they apply their skills in partnership with regional non-profit organizations. Applications are due each March, with experiences taking place from May through October.
