About Diabetes Prevention Program

The YMCA's Diabetes Prevention Program, offered in Randolph, MA through a collaboration between the Hockomock Area YMCA and the YMCA of Central Massachusetts, is dedicated to combating the rising threat of prediabetes among adults. With an estimated 86 million Americans unaware of their prediabetic condition, our program plays a critical role in education and prevention. Backed by research from the National Institutes of Health, we demonstrate a remarkable capability to lower the risk of developing type 2 diabetes by 58% overall and even more for those over 60. Participants will engage in a supportive, small group setting led by trained lifestyle coaches, focusing on practical strategies for healthy eating, physical activity, and behavior change over the course of a year. The program aims for participants to lose 7% of their body weight and to increase physical activity to at least 150 minutes per week. Together, we create a nurturing environment where individuals share experiences, motivate one another, and foster lasting friendships, all while taking significant steps towards better health. Join us at the YMCA's Diabetes Prevention Program to take control of your health and reduce your risk of diabetes.
