The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Augusta, ME, is dedicated to cultivating the next generation of leaders in sustainable food practices. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this fellowship aims to train and empower environmentally and socially aware advocates for a just food system. Through an accessible, tuition-free program, fellows engage in hands-on organic food system education and participate in diverse initiatives, from growing and distributing crops on market-style farms to integrating food and ecological literacy in schools. Our fellows play a vital role in supporting local farmers markets, creating distribution networks for healthy foods, and fostering community gardens. This six-month residential program culminates in a Community Action Year, where fellows apply their skills alongside regional non-profit organizations, driving meaningful change and promoting food equity in their communities. Applications are accepted until March, with the fellowship running from May to October.
