The Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) at the University of Maine Cooperative Extension in Belfast, ME, is dedicated to providing free nutrition and health education to income-eligible adults with children, particularly those participating in programs like SNAP, WIC, or Head Start. Our mission is to empower families by teaching them how to cook nutritious recipes, make healthy food choices, save money on groceries, ensure food safety, and increase their physical activity. While our buildings are currently closed to prioritize community health, we are adapting to offer engaging nutrition education classes remotely, either one-on-one or in small groups. As we look forward to reopening our county offices in July, we remain committed to supporting our community through practical, impactful education that fosters healthier lifestyles.
