The Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) in Freeport, ME, offered by the University of Maine Cooperative Extension, is dedicated to empowering low-income families with children through comprehensive nutrition and health education. Our free program is available to those who qualify for assistance programs like SNAP, WIC, or Head Start. Participants will gain valuable skills in cooking nutritious recipes, selecting healthy foods, budgeting effectively for groceries, ensuring food safety, and increasing physical activity. Although our facilities are temporarily closed for the safety of our community, we are committed to continuing our mission by providing virtual nutrition education classes, either one-on-one or in small groups.
