About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

Located in Hampden, ME, the Farm & Food Systems Fellowship is dedicated to fostering a just and sustainable food system by training and empowering passionate individuals to become advocates and educators. This unique fellowship offers participants an immersive six-month experience at the Allegheny Farm in Virginia, where they receive hands-on training in organic farming practices and food system education. Throughout the program, Fellows engage in a variety of impactful initiatives, including growing and distributing diverse crops, creating educational sessions focused on health, maintaining school and community gardens, and supporting local farmers markets. The Fellowship aims to increase access to healthy food by developing innovative distribution channels and enhancing food literacy within schools and communities. With no tuition fees, this program emphasizes accessibility, and selected candidates will embark on a Community Action Year to apply their skills in partnership with regional non-profit organizations. To join this transformative journey, applications must be submitted by March for participation from May to October.
