The Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) in Millinocket, ME, offered by the University of Maine Cooperative Extension, aims to empower income-eligible adults with children through free nutrition and health education. Our mission is to help families improve their dietary habits and overall well-being by providing valuable resources and guidance. Participants learn essential skills such as cooking new recipes, selecting healthy foods, budgeting for groceries, ensuring food safety, and increasing physical activity. During the pandemic, we have adapted our classes to prioritize safety by offering virtual nutrition education sessions, available for one-on-one or small group formats. As we prepare to reopen in July, we remain committed to enhancing the lives of our community through accessible food assistance and education.
