The Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) at the University of Maine Cooperative Extension in Rumford is dedicated to providing free, impactful nutrition education to income-eligible adults with children, especially those participating in programs like SNAP, WIC, or Head Start. Our program empowers families to embrace healthier lifestyles through practical programming that includes cooking new recipes, selecting nutritious foods, saving money at the grocery store, ensuring food safety, and increasing physical activity. Although our buildings are currently closed for safety reasons, our dedicated educators are fully equipped to offer nutrition education classes remotely, either one-on-one or in small groups, ensuring that our community continues to receive essential support during these challenging times. We're committed to helping families make informed choices and are eager to welcome participants back in July, as we follow health guidelines to safely reopen our county offices.
