The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Springvale, ME, empowers passionate individuals to become advocates and educators for a fair, sustainable food system. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this fellowship provides a comprehensive, tuition-free program focused on organic farming practices and community engagement. Fellows receive hands-on training at Allegheny Farm, working collaboratively to grow diverse crops, manage community gardens, and create educational initiatives that promote food and ecological literacy. The program emphasizes the importance of increasing access to healthy foods through farmers markets and direct-to-consumer sales. After the immersive six-month fellowship, participants engage in a Community Action Year, partnering with local non-profits to apply their skills and advocate for equitable food systems.
