The Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) at the University of Maine Cooperative Extension in Winthrop, ME, is dedicated to enhancing the lives of income-eligible adults with children through comprehensive nutrition and health education. Our free program is designed for those who qualify for assistance programs like SNAP, WIC, or Head Start. Participants gain valuable skills such as cooking nutritious recipes, selecting healthy foods, managing grocery budgets, ensuring food safety, and increasing physical activity. Although our facilities are temporarily closed to protect community health, our educators offer remote EFNEP nutrition classes that can be conducted one-on-one or in small groups.
