The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Jackson, MI, is dedicated to training and empowering individuals to become passionate advocates for a just food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic equity. This transformative program offers a six-month experiential learning opportunity at the Allegheny Farm, where selected Fellows delve into organic farming practices, community engagement, and food system education. With a commitment to accessibility, the Fellowship covers tuition costs to ensure that all who are qualified can participate. Participants will foster sustainable agricultural practices by working with diverse crops, implementing health-focused educational initiatives, maintaining community gardens, and enhancing food literacy in local schools. They also play a crucial role in supporting farmers markets and developing efficient distribution channels to improve access to fresh, healthy food. Following their immersive training, Fellows will engage in a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profits to apply their knowledge and skills. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the fellowship experience taking place from May to October.
