Michigan Local Support & Community Resources

Michigan, with its diverse landscapes and vibrant communities, encompasses both rural and urban settings that shape its residents' experiences. However, the state faces significant social and economic challenges, including accessibility issues related to healthcare, employment rates, and affordable housing. These factors contribute to the health disparities that many Michiganders confront, particularly in accessing mental health services. As mental health conditions such as anxiety and depression rise, particularly among youth, a substantial portion of the population remains without adequate support—highlighting a critical gap in mental health parity and care infrastructure. The shortage of mental health professionals exacerbates these challenges, as rural areas often lack essential services, leaving many individuals without timely intervention. Despite these hurdles, Michigan offers a range of mental health resources aimed at fostering resilience and well-being among its residents. From crisis hotlines to community programs and specialized support services, individuals can find relevant assistance tailored to their needs. Enhancing awareness and access to these resources is vital to improving mental health outcomes throughout the state, providing hope for a healthier future. Welcome! It takes strength to seek out assistance with managing life's many challenges.  It is great that you are here to take that first step!  I have been a licensed clinical social worker since 2005, and have been privileged to work with clients of all ages, from 0-adult.  My focus includes depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, pregnancy issues/pregnancy loss, spirituality, adjustment issues, and family issues/stress.  Since every person is unique, I use a variety of techniques that are tailored to the needs of the individual.  I believe that clients are an essential partner in the therapy process, and will help to make sure that you are comfortable with sharing sensitive information/topics.  I am a warm, caring, supportive person, and will help you make progress with your goals while moving at a pace that is right for your needs.  So what can you expect from me as an online therapist?  I am a neutral person that you can vent and express your feelings to (and on your own time! No appointment needed to write messages.)  I will give you support, encouragement, and feedback on the topics that you bring up.  You can expect to hear back from me at least 1-2 times per day whenever you message me.  Even if you don't write every day, I'll check in from time to time to see how things are going! I will also do all that I can to accommodate your busy schedule and respond in a timely manner! You are welcome to write messages whenever you have time, day or night, and I will read them.  Currently I'm staying at home with my young children, so my hours may vary a bit depending on their schedules, but you can definitely expect a reply when you write!  I will check in on weekends if needed/requested, especially if you begin therapy on one of those days. I'm so glad you found 7 Cups, and I look forward to working with you!
