About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Aitkin, MN, is dedicated to training and empowering passionate individuals to champion a food system that is equitable, sustainable, and environmentally conscious. This fellowship offers a unique opportunity to engage in hands-on, experiential learning at the Allegheny Farm, where selected Fellows immerse themselves in organic food system education and community engagement for six transformative months. With a commitment to accessibility, the program does not charge tuition, ensuring that aspiring advocates can develop skills in diversified crop production, health care education integration, food literacy, and community gardening. After their intensive training, Fellows embark on a Community Action Year, collaborating with local non-profits to promote food justice, support farmers’ markets, and enhance community food access. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the fellowship experience running from May to October, providing an impactful pathway to foster food sovereignty and community resilience in Minnesota and beyond.
