In Big Lake, MN, our Food Shelf is dedicated to providing vital food assistance to individuals and families facing food insecurity. Operating as a choice model food pantry, we empower clients to select nutritious food items in a grocery store-style environment, ensuring they meet their specific dietary needs. Families can access support once a month without needing an appointment, as we serve clients on a first-come, first-served basis. First-time visitors will engage with an intake specialist to facilitate their food assistance journey; we recommend bringing a state-issued ID, a current utility bill, and a completed assessment form, available onsite for those who need it. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we've adapted our operations for safety, temporarily offering pre-packaged food boxes based on household size for clients to collect outside our facility. We are also working to establish a food delivery system for seniors and those with heart or respiratory conditions.
