Located in the tranquil setting of Buffalo, Minnesota, Newport Institute specializes in gender-specific treatment for young adults aged 18-35 struggling with mental health issues and co-occurring disorders. Founded by Jamison Monroe to address the rising mental health concerns among this generation, the facility offers separate residential homes for men and women, conveniently situated near Minneapolis International Airport. Each resident receives a comprehensive treatment plan that integrates clinical therapy, experiential activities, vocational training, and educational support. The clinical program includes individual and group therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, nutrition education, body image groups, and attachment-based family therapy. Residents engage in approximately 30 hours of clinical and experiential care weekly, complemented by 20 hours of academic pursuits. Newport Institute's holistic approach incorporates various experiential practices including yoga, equine-assisted therapy, cooking classes, and martial arts. Their personalized assessment process aims to uncover the underlying causes of behavioral issues rather than merely treating symptoms. The institute places strong emphasis on future preparation through life skills development and academic support. College-bound residents receive assistance to maintain educational progress, while those transitioning to careers benefit from vocational guidance that enhances executive functioning and motivation. Throughout the treatment journey, compassionate staff members work to nurture healing in mind, body, and spirit, creating a foundation for fulfilling, independent lives.
