The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship based in Chaska, MN, is dedicated to training and empowering passionate individuals to become advocates for a just food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic equity. By providing tuition-free education at the Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA, we strive to make our program accessible to all. Our Fellows engage in hands-on learning, focusing on organic food systems, while collaborating with community partners to grow and distribute a variety of crops, implement health education initiatives, maintain community gardens, and promote food and ecological literacy in schools. They also support farmers markets, develop channels for increased access to healthy foods, and participate in community food coalition activities. After an intensive six-month experiential program, Fellows enter a Community Action Year, applying their training in partnership with regional non-profit organizations to effect meaningful change. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the Fellowship experience running from May through October.
