About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Detroit Lakes, MN, is dedicated to empowering aspiring advocates and educators in creating a food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic justice. Our program offers a robust curriculum focused on organic food systems without the burden of tuition, ensuring accessibility for all participants. Through hands-on training, our Fellows engage in diverse activities, including growing and distributing crops on a market-style farm, conducting educational sessions on innovative healthcare, maintaining community and school gardens, and enhancing food literacy in educational settings. We also encourage support for farmers markets and direct-to-consumer initiatives, while developing effective channels to increase access to healthy food. Over six months, selected Fellows reside at AMI’s Allegheny Farm Campus, followed by a Community Action Year where they apply their knowledge in partnership with local non-profit organizations. We invite those interested in making a meaningful impact to apply by March each year, with experiences running from May to October.
