About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Fairmont, MN, is dedicated to nurturing transformative leaders in food justice and sustainability. By sponsoring and training Fellows, we empower them to become advocates for a socially, environmentally, and economically just food system. Our program offers a robust education in organic food systems, allowing participants to engage in hands-on learning experiences at the Allegheny Farm. Throughout the six-month Farm and Food Study, Fellows will cultivate diversified crops, facilitate educational sessions in innovative healthcare, maintain community gardens, and foster food literacy in schools. They will also support farmers' markets and develop essential distribution channels to enhance access to healthy foods within their communities. Following their immersive experience, each Fellow embarks on a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profits to apply their skills in real-world settings. Our commitment to accessibility means there are no tuition fees for this transformative program, and we invite interested individuals to apply by March for participation starting in May.
